Strafe

Module IDs

Every built-in Strafe Client module, for server owners who want to turn some off. Same IDs on every Minecraft version, 1.8.9 to 26.x. IDs aren't case-sensitive.

Always off on these servers

These are built into the client. No setting and no plugin can switch them back on.

Turn modules off on your server

Install StrafeRules (8 KB, one jar for Spigot and Paper 1.8 to 26.x) in your plugins folder, then list the IDs in plugins/StrafeRules/config.yml. It's open source (AGPL-3.0): source on GitHub.

# turned off for everyone
blocked-modules: [perspective, brightness]

# extra modules turned off in some worlds
worlds:
  pvp_arena: [zoom, cps]

Run /straferules reload to apply it. Players on Strafe see those modules greyed out as BLOCKED until they leave your server.

Bypass permissions (off by default, even for ops):

Already running the Basalt anticheat? Use its client-integration.disable-client-mods list instead. Pick one, not both.

How it works

When a Strafe player joins, the client registers the strafe:rules plugin channel. The server answers with the IDs to turn off. Players without Strafe never get anything. Building your own plugin? The message is: VarInt protocol (1), a boolean (send false), VarInt count, then one string per module ID (VarInt length + UTF-8).
