Strafe

Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-12. Last updated 12 October 2026.

The short version

This summary is to help you; the full terms below are what count.

1. About these terms

Strafe is made by Creeperdiamonds Studios, an independent developer ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us. They cover:

Together we call these "Strafe". The StrafeRules plugin is open source and has its own licence instead of these terms (see section 12).

2. Agreeing to these terms

The launcher asks you to agree before you play. By selecting "I agree", or by using Strafe, you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use Strafe. You can uninstall it at any time.

3. Who can use Strafe

4. Your licence to use Strafe

Strafe is free. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it to play Minecraft. We can end this licence if you break these terms (section 15). Strafe is not open source: all rights not given to you here are kept by Creeperdiamonds Studios.

You may not:

5. Fair play and servers

Strafe only contains display and quality-of-life modules. Every server makes its own rules about which mods are allowed:

6. Updates

The launcher keeps Strafe, Minecraft and the included mods up to date by downloading new versions automatically. Updates can add, change or remove modules, for example when a server or the Minecraft EULA no longer allows one. Some updates may be needed to keep playing online. We aren't obliged to support every Minecraft version forever.

7. Other people's software and services

Strafe relies on others: Mojang and Microsoft (the game, accounts and player skins), FabricMC (the mod loader), Modrinth (Fabric API, performance mods and mods you add yourself), Eclipse Adoptium (Java) and mc-heads.net (skin faces). They own their software and services, which come with their own licences and terms. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them. Mods you add yourself are at your own risk.

8. strafeclient.com addresses

Server owners can get a free address like yourname.strafeclient.com and can link their own domain.

9. Your privacy

We don't run analytics, ads or tracking, and Strafe doesn't send your personal information to us. Your login stays encrypted on your computer. The privacy policy lists everything Strafe sends and to whom.

10. Our name and other trademarks

"Strafe", "Strafe Client", the Strafe logo and the look of the launcher belong to Creeperdiamonds Studios. Strafe is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang AB.

11. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely without paying or crediting you. Thank you!

12. The StrafeRules plugin

StrafeRules is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later. Its source is at github.com/creeperdiamonds/strafe-rules. That licence, not these terms, decides how you may use, change and share it. It covers the plugin only, not Strafe Client.

13. No warranty

Strafe is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We do our best, but we don't promise that it will be error-free, always available, compatible with your computer, or accepted by any server. Back up your worlds and screenshots.

14. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, Creeperdiamonds Studios is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost worlds, data or progress, or for bans and punishments on servers, arising from your use of Strafe. Because Strafe is free, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability or rights that by law can't be limited.

15. Ending

You can stop using Strafe at any time by uninstalling it. If you break these terms, we may end your licence and stop providing our services to you, such as your strafeclient.com address. Sections 4 (what you may not do), 10, 11, 13, 14 and 16 keep applying after that.

16. Changes and contact

We may change these terms. The new version is posted on this page with a new version date. When the changes matter, the launcher asks you to agree again before you play. If you don't agree to the new terms, stop using Strafe.

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.
